Avatar is the biggest thing happening around. After creating history with Titanic, James Cameron is back to steal the heart of millions with his latest film, Avatar. “Every director has a God complex”, said the director lauding himself as ‘King of the World’ when “Titanic” won the best-picture Oscar years back. I can bet that Cameron will show his magic again with a couple of Oscar nods this year too. Avatar has been perhaps the most passionate project till date for James Cameron. He had been the writer, director, cinematographer and camera operator for the film. He had been busy creating an entirely new language of film leading a team of crazy artists inventing creatures and forests and a race of aliens who are all left-handed simply because he, too, is left-handed. Well its surely a very intelligent approach by the film maker. Now that’s what I would refer as planting his own signature!!! In a recent interview with MTV News, Cameron was quoted as saying, “Every director has a God complex. Every director is creating a world even if it’s a story that takes place in an apartment”. While talking about the success story of “Terminator” and “Aliens” and not to forget the biggest blockbuster, “Titanic”, Cameron remembered to give a quick credit to his crew. “I’m just amazed by what the team was able to create. I love the design. I’m an artist, a sketch artist, so I love designing the creatures, but I worked with a team. Trust me, it’s not easy creating all this stuff. … People sort of think we shot it in New Zealand because the rain forests are beautiful there, which, of course, they are, but we didn’t have a single day of exteriors on the movie. It was all created with ones and zeros”, the Oscar winning director said. Cameron also added, “The kinds of films that I loved growing up were films that created fantasy worlds. And at a certain point I decided to stop being a fan and start being a practitioner. But you never stop being a fan, and this is the kind of stuff that I love. I get a thrill out of it”.

David White the interim national executive director of SAG Just a Day after SAG ’s  National Board approved a new Television contract, the Screen Actors Guild have planned to hand over pink slips to about 8% of the staff, which is close to 35 employees. “ To close a gap between the guild’s expected revenue and costs in the upcoming fiscal year budget, SAG is undertaking a number of expense reductions, including the elimination of some staff positions. This is a difficult but necessary step that must be taken to responsibly address the fiscal realities confronting our organization ”, said SAG’s spokesperson Pamela Greenwalt on Monday. SAG Awards A $60 million annual budget was approved on Saturday by the national board of SAG after the company went through a $6.5 million operating deficit for fiscal 2009. The decision was mainly taken due to declining revenue from dues and investments and a slowdown in film work. “ I have asked all employees nationwide to convene tomorrow morning so that I, and our executive team, can speak directly to you about this situation and its consequences “, David White the interim national executive director said on Monday. Although it is not related to this downsizing, SAG national organizing director Todd Amorde resigned from his post last week.

The Princess and the Frog, Disney’s upcoming production features an African-American princess, Princess Tiana, along with several other animated casts who are also black. But the frog turned prince is white. And this has already stirred controversies more than the production house has expected. Critics have been heard talking about a fairytale ending for a black prince and princess, which the Disney took advantage of. Since 1937, when Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs were released, all princesses of Disney has predominantly been white.
