Sources say Tiger Woods is addicted to sleeping pills and painkillers and is now getting treatment at The Meadows in Arizona.

Tiger Wood’s mother, Kultida, had a front row seat during his press conference on Friday, but the seemingly grim look on her face was nowhere near the feelings she expressed to her son after his speech. “I said, ‘I’m so proud of you. Never think you stand alone. Mom will always be there for you and I love you,’ ” Kultida told ESPN of greeting Tiger after the press conference was over. After his 15-minute apology, Tiger shook the hands of all the attendees, who were pre-chosen ahead of time. Woods is expected to return to rehab to continue therapy on Sunday.

After months of speculation when he would speak out on his “transgressions,” Tiger Woods finally publicly apologized Friday morning during a press conference. “I want to say to each of you simply and directly: I am deeply sorry for my irresponsible, selfish behavior… I know people want to find out how i could be so selfish and so foolish. People want to know how I could have done these things to my wife Elin and to my children. And while I have always tried to be a private person, there are some things I want to say,” Tiger began. Noticeably absent from the presser was Tiger’s wife Elin, who has stayed mum throughout the ordeal. “Elin and I have started the process of discussing the damage caused by my behavior,” Woods continued, making sure to note that despite rumors, Elin never laid a hand on him the night his Escalade crashed, nor has there ever been a domestic violence issue in their relationhip. “My real apology .. will come from my behavior. We have a lot to discuss. What we say to each other will remain between the two of us.” Tiger made clear that he still has a lot of work to do, and is unsure of when he will return to golf. Woods is scheduled to report back to the rehab facility he has been in since early December to complete therapy.

Accenture is the first of Woods’ many sponsors to part ways with the golfing great since news broke of his extramarital affairs . “We are disappointed but respect their decision. That is all I have to say to you,” Tiger’s agent Mark Steinberg wrote in an e-mail to the Wall Street Journal. Other major sponsors including Nike, Gatorade and Electronic Arts have said they will continue to fully support Woods.
