It’s the end of an era for actress America Ferrera who is getting ready to say goodbye to her alter-ego of four years, Betty Suarez. “I’ve lived with this character who I’ve loved from day one and I have only grown to feel more connected to her,” Ferrera tells Parade.com of Ugly Betty’s cancellation. “Her entire journey was about a transformation, kind of coming into her womanhood and owning herself both physically and emotionally.” As the series’ finale approaches, America is trying not to focus too hard on the final goodbye. “I’m staying in denial for now — I’ll deal with all those emotions in a little bit. I imagine that when we finally wrap it’s not going to be a dry-eyed goodbye,” she tells the mag. So how has 25-year-old Ferrera changed after four seasons on a hit network show? “I never really pictured myself being on television. I couldn’t imagine a world coming along that would entice me enough to sign away years and years of my life to one character,” she says. “Then Betty came around. I was 21 when I started and I’ve learned so much and grown so much as a person.” The series finale of Ugly Betty airs April 14.

 Shiloh Pepin, affectionately known to the public as Mermaid Girl, passed away at the age of 10. Shiloh was born with a condition called sirenomelia. She was born with her legs fused together with no lower colon, genital organs and only one barely working kidney. After her appearances on TLC and The Oprah Winfrey Show, she become a media darling. Her resilience and bravery captured the hearts of all who watched her. We are all in mourning for this little soul. But we also take comfort in knowing that her suffering has ceased.

Charles Gibson, the anchor of ABC’s World News , will be stepping down from his position at the end of this year, and is set to be replaced by current Good Morning America host, Diane Sawyer. Sawyer,63, will reportedly begin work on World News in January, making her the second female ever to host an evening news program–Katie Couric currently serves as the anchor of CBS’ Evening News . In a statement released by ABC News President, David Westin, Sawyer is described as “the right person to succeed Charlie and build on what he has accomplished. She has an outstanding and varied career in television journalism, beginning with her role as a State Department correspondent and continuing at 60 Minutes , Primetime Live , and Good Morning America .” Diane began work on Good Morning America in 2000. Kim Kardashian has just confirmed on her website that she will be guest judging an epsiode of ANTM set to air next year. “Wow, this cycle is pretty amazing! It’s definitely my favorite so far,” Kim wrote. “It was such an honor to be a guest judge! I have watched this show for years and am such a huge Tyra Banks fan! She is such a smart business woman and such a role model ! Kim plus Tyra in action… this is one show we won’t wanna miss!

Former supermodel Paulina Porizkova probably didn’t get the birthday present she was hoping for this year. After sitting on the judges’ panel of Tyra Banks’ America’s Next Top Model for the past three seasons, Paulina was told to pack her bags and go home on her 44th birthday. “Listen, do you know why I am in Los Angeles? Because I am looking for a job,”  she told Craig Ferguson. “Because I was fired by America’s Next Top Model on my birthday.” Telling the Late Late Show host she got the ax via telephone on April 9th, Paulina added, “The reason I was told I was fired was because, it seemed, that America’s Next Top Model has gotten too fat and they needed to cut some fat and the fat was me.” “So I figured it was either that or my gigantic huge ego. Which I wasn’t aware of until I was told by the producers that I have an ego problem.” Before Porizkova was on the show, ’60s  supermodel Twiggy was a Top Model judge. The Cycle 12 finale, which will also be Paulina’s last hurrah, airs Wednesday night on the CW.

Iron Chef America star, Cat Cora, and her wife, Jennifer Cora, are both pregnant, the foodie announced on her MySpace page . Cat and Jennifer, already parents to sons Caje, 22 months, and Zoran, 5, from the same donor as the two on the way. Both are expecting boys again. “We decided that having them a year apart is harder than having kids as infants together,” Cat said, adding, “[Jennifer] carried my embryo amd [sic] I carried hers. It’s like surrogating, but obviously all of our kids are equal.” Cat is scheduled to give birth just three months after Jennifer.
